Doran Lower was hired by Vernonia School District in 2003-04. Since becoming a member of our staff he has facilitated the following roles: C.L.A.S.S. Grant Program Co-Manager (2011-2012), Girls Varsity Basketball Coach (2004-06), Boys JV Basketball Coach (2011-2012), Career Related Learning Experience Coordinator (2007-09) and DistrictWebmaster (2005-present). Currently Lower is in the process of developing curriculum for the high school's Digital Arts Program. Students who participate in the Digital Arts Program have the opportunity to earn up to 11 college credits free of charge while at VHS. Beginning Photoshop, Graphics for Mulitmedia and Video Production 1 are all dual credit college courses with PCC. Lower qualified to teach these college courses at VHS in 2014, 2016.
Mr. Lower enjoys traveling and watching professional sports. He is married to his wife Vineeta and together they share three adult children, and two grand boys.
All of Mr. Lower's computer-based courses are available on vsdonline (http://vernonia.instructure.com). Students are able to work on class assignments from home if they have a viable internet connection and the correct applications. Students are invited to come in before or after school if they fall behind in their work. Computer Applications is a required course for graduation at Vernonia High School.
VHS Digital Arts Program
The Digital Arts Program at Vernonia High School provides students opportunities to interact with and gain proficiency in various professional software, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, & Flash.
